sigh....

so it's day 18.... I messed with my incubator last night. humidity wasnt staying up (like it did when I was testing) and it was down to 33.6(92.5) for about an hour with a 100 watt light bulb. (i was using 60 watt but changed it because the water was making it cold) And I still only had 44% humidity...

I added another light bulb 60w (both of these normal incandescents are not on a thermostat the 100w has a dimmer though.) and moved one of the fans to be blowing on the tray of water.

it's not doing what it was when i tested it.

I stayed up to make sure the temp didn't go higher than the set temp. it was fine for 2 hours so i went to bed.

when i got up in the morning the temp was at 39.6 (103.3F)

so I spent the morning messing with my stupid incubator that is out to kill eggs. Why does it only screw up when I have eggs in it and not while I'm testing?

I'm going to do a complete redesign once my turner is in since it won't fit in what I have. hopefully I can fix my humidity problems....

I had a little incident, too. One of my eggs was huge, so when I put it back in the incubator after throwing away the baddies, I put it right under the fan. It got kind of wedged and wouldn't work with the rest of the egg turner.

I had a little incident, too. One of my eggs was huge, so when I put it back in the incubator after throwing away the baddies, I put it right under the fan. It got kind of wedged and wouldn't work with the rest of the egg turner.

D: how long was that just since day 14? hopefully it didn't damage the shell, it should be fine if it's only been a couple days. I stopped turning mine on day 16, because I wanted to see if it helps with positioning.

last i checked i had 9. my phone is dead so i dont have a bright enough light to candle yet. there were 4 rocking yesterday and i've had eggs survive higher temps before. i'm hoping theyre ok. I've got the humidity up to 66% now, but I have to make a barrier because I've had to put in a second tray of water and it's in with the eggs. as is one of the fans.
