Would've gotten DD into 4H if we had a program here when she was littler. Now that one finally got started in our area, she's not interested. The lass has set her eyes on learning to drive. I suspect when we retire Rena, I'll be looking for a hubby horse and convince my old man to ride with me. Maybe a TWH .. hmm ..

I went on a trail ride once... I was riding a Peruvian Paso. It was fun except for two things... The owners of the place were very strict.. #1 went up to ride beside them and they said that if I did it again they would lead the horse. #2 it was a trail horse, so I didnt need to do anything.

Man, this thread moves fast! :gig

I have a bunch of C4 belts and like them. I color coordinate with my breeches and polos or Kastel shirts. :) They're not super durable, but they're more of a fashion thing.

@LilJoe Do you know if is it the hair you're allergic to, or the dander, or the hay that they cover themselves in? My parents tried to convince me that I was allergic to horses when I was younger but nope! It was the stupid timothy hay. Since hay is messy and dusty and gets all over them while they eat it, it can seem like the horse is causing it. I still know if I get on a horse that eats timothy because I start sneezing and turn into a snot fountain. :sick :lau

If it is the hair, consider body clipping year round. You'll need good blankets for the winter but the horse won't mind, and it should help. If it's dander, I think body clipping in winter combined with a good care routine would help a lot. I usually only see dander on mine in the winter. Having sets of saddle pads and stuff that you can wash frequently would help too.
