I would be tempted too, with a rooster who did all the niceties for his girls. You don't have to do anything you don't want to--as long as he's not a danger to others--especially children.
I'm gonna process a bunch of roosters tomorrow, especially the head rooster. He's started attacking my hand when I put food into the small coop. Tonight he's getting that scrawny neck grabbed. I'll catch the others in the morning but I think it'll be easier to catch him tonight. Wish me luck.

You really should process those extra quail boys, though. Are they crowing yet? Are you sure they're males?
