That makes sense!! To be fair though, I didn’t really need the shoe since he backed off when I yelled NO!! but I didn’t feel like chasing him. And I’ve never beat him or need a stick or anything like that, he backs off when I confront him, but I admit even before he started attacking I would occasionally just chase him to remind himIndeed. In my opinion, once you're at the point of throwing shoes or beating with broomsticks, it's not worth it. They will never stop seeing you as competition and you will never really trust them.
The best roosters I've had have come from a place of mutual respect.
the girls always chase him too so I figured it was okay but maybe in his mind it reinforced that I was big and scary? I thought it would prevent issues but maybe it caused them? I didn’t handle him much or really at all as a chick either cause I tried to be hands off with the cockerels so I wouldn’t have this problem. Guess that didn’t work so well. He used to be so sweet. Although he’s always been a bit stand offish and ran from me so he’s never been held or coddled or anything (think I held him like once). I’m wondering if me chasing him frequently made him hate me or something?
I’ve stopped doing that but maybe too late? Although my dad has chased him too so
but I’m wondering if I’ve just been disrespectful to him so he’s been disrespectful to me? Do you think if I try to make peace with him and show him I’m not scary he will come around? Or is he just being a jerk for no reason??? He seems to mostly be doing it out of protection.

I could go to the other store and see what they have. They’re still open for another half hour or so. I don’t want to eat chocolate this late or my dads oat lol
