I'd bump it to the 99.7 range.
I'd not add as much water...I prefer it to be closer to 30%.

I'm running this batch at closer to 25%.

99.5-99.7 is where I'd like to have the temperature, but it seems like I'm either going to be a bit low or a big high. What I'm wondering is which is better, the low or high?

Okay, I have a couple questions about incubating.

Temperature: My incubator seems to run about .5-1 degrees cool. It says 100, and according to the thermometer I put inside, the temperature inside is 99-99.5 degrees. If I bump it up to 101, it gets about 99.7-100.5. Which is better?

Humidity: There's a super annoying alarm that goes off if the humidity drops to 40%, but if I add a pipette of water, it goes up to about 50% for about an hour, then drops again. If I add more, the humidity goes as high as 70%, gradually dropping. For example, I added 4 pipettes full last night before I went to bed, and it was at 42% when I got up this morning. Is that okay?

I would choose the 99.7 to 100. 5 range.

Forced air. It's a cheap thermometer/hydrometer, but seems to be accurate with room temperature.

Go pick up another two thermometers and calibrate one today.

Sounds like a plan. I was hoping that having the two temperature gages would be enough. If I start doing a lot of hatching, I'm going to invest in a better, more accurate incubator.

I still don't understand how you can buy a thermometer and it be wrong... I will never understand this but I have learned my lesson to not trust any thermometer.
Yours says it could be off up to 2.7 degrees.

I don't know how you can calibrate this particular one but I would go by a cheap fish tank thermometer at Walmart for $2 in calibrated.

I wouldn't trust that thermometer at all, the huge % difference is crazy...must be made in China! Talk about 'mood' swings!

I'll buy a new fish tank thermometer, and may steal the one out of my fish tank for good measure as well. I have a stick on fish tank thermometer for my brooder, since I assumed (not wrong, I hope!) that a degree or so of difference wouldn't be as critical.
