➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

How long can my quail eggs be delayed in 90-100 degree heat before I give up and realize I have to order new eggs? Right now the eggs that were supposed to be delivered on Saturday seem to be stuck in San Francisco, and it's been hot this weekend.
Even though it's a weekend the mail is still in transit. It doesn't stop moving, unless it's at it's last destination PO. In that case, it would be inside the PO and not on a truck.

My experience is that the San Francisco hub is one of the worst places to have your hatching eggs pass through. When you do get the eggs, get them into the incubator as soon as they are warmed up. Allowing them to sit around resting may cause the loss of any that have already begun development due to the temperatures that are high enough to cause incubation to begin.

What R2elk said. Rest them in the incubator without turning for the amount of time you would have rested outside the incubator. Then start turning.

Absolutely right @R2elk , it's always too warm here in the spring time to allow the eggs to settle in a 'cool' spot before incubating....that would kill all the embryos that had started developing. I always put mine in the bator as soon as I recieve them, I just don't turn them for a day or two.

Other than the 'water belly' appearance doesn't act like anything is wrong? As long as it's eating, drinking, pooping, I'd just let it run it's course.

Kiki i follow Mr Sean's opinion here, let it run its course. sometimes theyll surprise you, and eating and drinking is a big step! i though he was already a goner cuz u had quit posting about him.

In other news, got my first 100% hatch yesterday on my homegrown Svart Hona eggs :wee

I have tried every recommended method. I have found no benefit to letting them rest or not turning them. Now if I was to hatch shipped eggs, I would allow them to warm up and then put them in the incubator and start turning them. My incubator turns them once every three hours so they are in the incubator for three hours before they actually start turning.

There are studies which show that turning the eggs is more important in the earliest stages of incubation than at any other time.

No he acts pretty normal...just a little too calm. He pooped slot over night so I think he is eating enough. He seems to be ok this morning.

Wait a second u did cull that one flipping over didnt you? This is his hatchmate solo??
Yeah the other one is gone. He never ate. This is the first one that hatched and was doing well but yesterday he was acting a little silly.
