Does anyone have a perfected no waste quail feeder?
I don't have a picture handy but I'll take some in the morning if my feeders. Not very much gets spilled out. I also keep it inside of a dirt box so what the do knock out lands on the dirt and not through the bottom of the cage.

I tried a lot of different things but these homemade ones have worked the best so far.

Basically just a plastic container with smallish holes cut into it so they can only fit their head. I also don't fill it too high so they have to go in and down to get a bite.

I just started using one we made that is similar to the one in this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...lon-25-feed-bucket-feeder-for-about-3.834227/

I used a 1 gallon bucket and I think 2.5 inch pvc instead. I only have one opening in mine though the bucket would accommodate two sites if preferred. Seems to work well and they took to it pretty quickly.

I’ll try to remember to take some pictures and post them when I get the chance.

i haven’t attempted a homemade yet but I went to 4 of the long skinny feeders in the aviary and have less waste compared to big round chicken feeders. I use big coffee creamer containers to carry my feed. each container holds approximately 2# feed and I fill feeders 2x daily. the littles cages have the round feeders that hold about half# or so each.

Can you weigh one?

I need to know if my Solo is big or not. I can not tell.
i just weighed 3 chicks.....biggest “jumbo wild” is 20g, “yeller” is 14g and small “wild type” is 10g
i also weighed 3 eggs from my collection yesterday and avg 14g.....silkie egg is 37g

I used the bucket feeder with PVC elbows for the chickens. Need to be under a roof. The chickens ate the water proofing & I’d get wet, nasty, moldy feed in the bottom.

Kiki & I use similar home made from SlightlyRedneck videos

i’m going to move the next batch to hatcher today (day 13) because we are supposed to be taking a road trip for the weekend (dropping mini at grandmas in western tn and then detouring for off-roading at a park west of Nashville.
moved homegrowns in with other small batch yesterday. so i will also be setting 56 of “mystery box today.
