➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Remind me please... Was the little yellow one the first one to hatch?
It was the last one to hatch. It hatched almost 24 hours after the almost last one.

Edit: I had pretty poor hatch rates on both of my batches, but I can point to several factors on each that were entirely my fault. I expect to do better the next time I hatch.

QB#4 Myshire jumbos - first egg on week 6.5. Right before I move everyone around. So 2 more weeks before everyone lays. After cages are cleaned, will count boys and pick breeders. Then patiently await eggs. BTW looks like I got about quite a few boys.

Latest hatch, QB#5, the little yellow is bound and determined to suicide. Still have all 3 at one week old.

I went round and made sure they each got water. It's incredible---the very cohesive forces in play in water are such that it makes it nearly impossible for them to get an appropriately sized mouthful. They're miniscule.

My batch of jumbos looks like mostly boys too, if I'm reading the feathers right. It looks like at least 4 (possibly 5) of my 7 have an awful lot of red coming in on the breast.
