➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Well so far my 2nd shipment of eggs from mixedUPturk are doing good. Have 16 heartbeats :celebrate1 maybe heartbeat 7 clears (lavmans) 4 bubbled clears (celadons). I have 5 eggs with bubbles floating all around the eggs butt the 5th has a heartbeat and its bubble is 10x smaller then the Celadon eggs bubbles.

I have 3 Celadon eggs that are have heartbeats.:wee 2 ? Eggs, 3 German pastels, 6 pansy, and 3 lavender man eggs that all have heartbeats. Although technically i have 6 lavender mans sence the Celadon layer is with that roo. Although i don't think they'll be pure. :D

Im so glad to finally hear how its going! Im sorry i had no idea that the fertility was so low in the lav mans-- apparently he has two fav girls and thats all he breeds :( i learned it in my set, as im sure you read while you caught up. The celadon is not in with a lav man roo But in the pansy cage there are two lav man hens, one is handicapped incubation error and the other has always lived with her. So those are where they will be there but not pure, pansy is the roo over the hens in that cage.

ETA also the celadon hen has a germ pat over her.

I'm giving up on lavenders for the time being. They are so pretty, but both my hens have keeled over for no apparent reason. Fertility/viability also seems lower than expected for everyone I've talked to.

Peacocks are exotic and I hear they taste like chicken.
unfortunately peacocks are listed by name in most ordinances as “gallinaceous” bird. any bird kept or hunted for its eggs or flesh.....ducks, geese, guineafowl, chickens, peacocks, turkey, pheasants, quail, grouse, partridge, etc etc. i was thinking more of a macaw that i could teach to crow???

sorry for going “dark” for so long today....I’ve been absolutely “sick” since lunchtime!! And since 3:30, i’ve just been “madder than hell!!”
I thoroughly researched everything prior to getting my first bird due to being “annexed into city limits” a few years ago. While the city had been trying to ban roosters, they kept getting shot down! Today we got our lovely visit from “code enforcement” while my DS was home for lunch. DH called to inquire about the visit and we finally got a live person on the phone around 3:30.
supposedly they just passed a new ordinance defining any fowl or animal that is caged or cooped outdoors as “livestock” and a resident may only have total of 8 period and they have to be housed and kept a minimum of 35 ft from any property line and cannot make noise. or they have to be inside your actual house. nothing is published yet, there was no “advance notice” of any new ordinance being discussed, and they have not yet notified us in writing of the details of “said ordinance”. this is based so far on phone interpretation but said it does include chickens, coturnix quail, gamebirds, rabbits etc. so basically I have until whatever deadline they give me to re-home or butcher everything but my dogs and the butttons and finches that are in my house. (their deadlines are usually 2-4 weeks max)......and i’m sure like all the bs ordinances here, it’s only selectively enforced based on complaints and unfortunately I’ve been a magnet for such for the entire 15+ years we’ve lived here. hopefully you guys may have some advice on how to “fight city hall”????
How big is your lot?? You can't have any outside?

:lau:lau:lau Just make sure you have it registered as a bonafide support animal. Have your doc write you a prescription and get it a little yellow harness. ;)

we are on about .8 acre lot in a neighborhood that was in county when we moved here.....we were annexed sometime after 2010.....still waiting on a copy of this new city ordinance as there is no information online. Last available information was when it failed to pass in 2017.

Id say make an official come to your property and tell you exactly where you can put exactly what species of animal. After you get the docs
