➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I can sympathize with Kelsey. :lau If it weren’t for my DH badgering me I’d probably still have a greenhouse kit, not an almost-done actual greenhouse. It will be winter chalet for over half my birds (that would be mostly the female half). Build your chicken coop, Kelsey. You’ll be super glad when it’s all over. :p

Wow that is AWESOME!!

Where did you get that!?

But yeah, I definitely need to get started!!

I have a bad habit of starting things then not finishing them or just plain never starting them.

As well as being just a tad bit impulsive and not thinking things through.

Like spontaneously ordering chicken hatching eggs a couple weeks ago  or spontaneously ordering supplies for a betta tank I don’t have today.

You are fired.

I’m thinking of putting some quail in there come spring. Too late this year, not to mention my freezers are full of broilers and three mega-turkey monsters. What would y’all think about hanging cages? Would it freak out the quail to have them sway a little, do you think? So far the frame seems to stand still in wind, despite somewhat disturbing poly noises. We’ve had a lot of wind, which is why it’s taken so long to get this big pup tent set up.

I would move them to the three-sided barn once the greenhouse warms up too much for their comfort. The cattle won’t be using it by then... there’s no reason for it to sit empty.

I still need to permanently install the roll-up “garage door” and secure the storm door. There’s an inflation fan to create an air cushion between the two layers of poly on the main body of the house that we didn’t get installed yet because the wind was coming up and we needed to get the poly locked down. Then louvered motorized shutters for the gable ends. I’ll install the roll-up sides in spring, I think. They won’t be wanted until then. I’m gonna bed it with a round bale of old hay—I’ll cut it up with the chain saw.

I can’t forget... electric fence wires close around everything because I’m pretty sure poly won’t keep coyotes out...

I think hanging cages would work just fine.

I got it from Growers Solutions. Don’t get one until you finish your chicken coop! :lau
