➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

It’s the 75 gallon one. They’re having a big sale. $1 per gallon on the smaller sizes (10, 20, 29) and 50% off on the bigger sizes (40, 55, 75). The $1 per gallon used to include the 40 and I think it used to include the big sizes too but they changed it haha anyway, it’s the biggest one they have and it’s wider than the 55 which I think will be better for when they’re full size so they can turn around easier in it and if I ever add more there’d be room for them. It’s not much more expensive than the 55 with the sale price but a lot more room.
What size do you have now?

I guess I won't know for sure until I try. Buttons are supposed to be flighty too, but mine are tame and don't jump up at all.
My Buttons flushed a lot when they were slightly younger, but they've pretty much stopped. Never had a Coturnix do it.

I can sympathize with Kelsey. :lau If it weren’t for my DH badgering me I’d probably still have a greenhouse kit, not an almost-done actual greenhouse. It will be winter chalet for over half my birds (that would be mostly the female half). Build your chicken coop, Kelsey. You’ll be super glad when it’s all over. :p

That's fantastic! Man, I need one. One of these years...

Re: indoor bird conversation: I love them. I have kept budgies for a very long time, and I'm going to be indulging my life-long desire for Gouldian finches very soon. When I retire, I'm getting a walk-in aviary.

This is the cage in question. I am going to make a deep bedding tray out of coroplast and use shavings on the bottom. Papers are getting annoying to change with so many budgies and a few inches of pineshavings could probably go a week versus daily changes with papers.

And my button cage.
Instead of getting a new pair of quail, why not put your buttons in the big cage? Getting a new pair and new species is fun, but can be complicated. Best wishes with whatever you decide.

I turn into a pumpkin around 9. :p
Someone else uses this saying! Wonderful. Crazy Lady hates it when I turn into a pumpkin. Shut it down, lights out. Usually right around 9, too.

I think it depends on what your goal is. For me I want to breed for the biggest quail I can get so I have more meat on my birds when the time comes to butcher but that’s just a goal of mine.
Ah, okay, I do plan on keeping the larger of the birds when I do the selection of breeders. (Except I plan on keeping my Tibetan regardless of if it's male or female).

Btw as you probably guessed... I didn’t go back to sleep. :lau
Not for lack of trying though.
But I guess I should probably get up for real now :lau
Maybe I’ll go to the pet store and get the fish tanks I meant to get yesterday. :lau
I need to get up up, day for feed store run. Need feed, dewormer, hay, etc....
My DH had a rainout so he'll get to help out today. Wonder how fun it is to put tin on in the rain?

It doesn’t bother me my wife hates it most days she is a light sleeper so when I roll out of bed it wakes her there have been times I’ve tried to lay there trying to go back to sleep and she’ll slap me and tell me to go to the living room so if I’m awake I’m awake that’s it
I'm like that too. I think a fly fart could wake me up!

Most nights I go to bed at ten if I go to bed earlier I just wake up earlier

Oh wow I guess I’m lucky then that I’ve never really had issues sleeping. Sometimes I can’t sleep but usually it’s only if I’m really anxious or excited about something or if I drink a lot of caffeine too close to bed. Oddly, if I brush my teeth too close to bedtime, I sometimes won’t be able to sleep either. The mint or clean feeling or something wakes me up haha so I have to do it a little earlier. And of course in the morning.

What size do you have now?

20

The 55 would probably work but with the sale price, the 75 isn’t that much more and I feel like it’ll be better when they get to full size. Which could be a foot or foot and a half long haha

They’re about 6 inches now.

They definitely need a new tank ha

The 75 is wider so more room to turn around when they get bigger.

My Buttons flushed a lot when they were slightly younger, but they've pretty much stopped. Never had a Coturnix do it.

That sounds amazing. :love

I have grand plans for putting a big aviary next to the garage eventually. :lau

But that probably won’t happen.

But I’ll probably put something else over there eventually haha

Thankfully I don’t think I have anything I need at the feed store cause I recently went but do need to go to the pet store get the tanks. Waiting on my filters and other stuff I ordered for them to get here so can’t really set it up right now anyway but want to at least get it. The sale ends the 15th I think so need to get it this week. Some of my stuff should be here today, some tomorrow, and the rest not sure when ha most should be here today and tomorrow though.

And that sounds miserable!!

And I laughed at fly fart :lau
