➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

DH found a new brine recipe that we used on our turkeys! it’s sage, black peppercorns, 1/2 gal apple cider and 1/2 bottle jim beam, 6 oz maple syrup, and kosher salt...(per bucket).....he said he could basically drink the brine!! :gig apple-cherry stuffing in the smoked one and the smoker pellets are cherry the other will be fried. had a really difficult time getting all the quills out of the birds this year.....

You might use a seedling starter pad under the bedding/puppy pad. I got a couple on Amazon, cheap. I used them under goslings, then ducks. They wipe clean. Fab! They’re just gently warm so might not be sufficient in themselves for super teeny-tinies.

I do like the reptile bulbs. They’re kind of pricey, but maybe they last a long time. I’m vewy, vewy careful with them. It’s nice, to be able to sleep in the dark. Less cheeping, at least with chicken, turkey, duck & goose babies.
My first quail... the used a heating pad leaned up against the side of the cage with just a few inches of the pad along the bottom of the cage. Think L shape. It worked.

I just saved this!

the video recipe is on the bradley smoker website under fowl—smoked turkey
I am a support group leader with my doctor and I offered to do a chicken BBQ when spring time comes with the chickens we are raising. He was so excited that I offered. We are going to be buying a propane smoker and using that.

Yesterday I gave him a dozen eggs and I've never seen somebody so excited over Farm fresh eggs.

The turkey recipe I'll be using next Thanksgiving when we have our broad breasted turkeys.

the smoked one has to go in by 6am and smoke for 8 hours, fried should take under an hour. we are going to be making desserts and prepping sides etc tonight but right now we are cleaning, rearranging and processing deer to get it out of the cooler!
