Thanks it's not a ring necked though, it's a Zurandy pheasant...P.c. zurandii
Yep, there are quite a few species of True pheasants that don't have rings around their necks, or if they do it will be thin or "spotty". Ring necked pheasants are in the True pheasant group. The Zurandy's are in the "white winged" grouping. Together with the Kirghiz (2 species) and black-necked (4 species) they are considered to be "red rumps". There are 6 species in this grouping.thanks...i see that nowsimilar colors....no ring around neck
There are 17 subspecies in the Gray rumped group, of which the Chinese ring necked belongs. The Olive rumped group consists of one species, the Tarium pheasant, P.c. tarimensis.
