We are having a cold snap. The humidity in the room with the heater is closer to 40%. When I ran the bator dry with the fan, it dropped to <20%. The hygrometers don't work below 20%. What kind are you using or is that the weather stations'?

9%? I think you forgot a digit.

I wish! It's creeped closer to 20% with all this snaining but it stays below 10% most of the year. Hubby has a handheld gadget, not sure what exactly it is but I know it was more expensive than any of my incubators We're going to get a weather station set up this spring, too.

When I hatch I have to run our whole-house humidifier in the bathroom closed or even the humidity in the incubator wont stay where it should. I vacuum sealed more than one chick before figuring that out

Also, dying in a fire is always a distinct possibility up here because everything is so dry O.O So that's fun. And constant sore throats/nosebleeds if I forget to fill the humidifier.

YES! 'tis some visitor and nothing more. I wonder how long they will stay? Hope they stay for dinner!

Tonight I will take the top layer (6) out.
Tomorrow morning I take the bottom layer out and replace with 18.
