Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I'm kind of watching the auctions, but I find that I have absolutely no desire to bid. I am egged out.

I’m still trying to figure out a way to hatching again!! While at the meat market today, the sales girl gave me contact info on a reptile breeders expo that’s held locally every month!! booth rental is $30. I was thinking if I timed my hatches right, it could be a great avenue for ā€œsellingā€ chicks with hatch deformities as feeders??? as well as eggs and extra chicks as feeders and/or pets.......i need to learn more about what reptile peeps want as far as feeders (live, frozen??) and pricing. DH thinks that it’s all just a waste of time and effort, but I should really try to at least offset some of my costs, right???
Frozen and thawed is what most reptile people do especially if it's chicks because the beak can harm a reptile if the chick pecks it. Live feeders aren't very good for domesticated reptiles because they're not used to live feeders like a wild reptile would be.

Most live feeders are bugs like the roaches I'm breeding. Mice, chicks, and other feeders can cause damage when their fight instinct kicks in.

thanks....i was thinking frozen would be better, but again it’s been nearly 30 years since i had any dealings with feeders for reptiles and raptors

I fed a live mouse to a snake and the mouse killed it... I'll never feed live again!

On the eggs, not the wall. Got it. You have a very convoluted system.

Generally, a week. So I should stick with Sunday and figure out a way to keep the chicks off the eggs as I hand turn until lockdown. Got it.

Being insane is a lot of work. :p
Hatch dates go on the wall. Lockdown and set dates go on the eggs. Easier that way.

This guy made an incubator out of water bottles.:bow
Incredible! I may or may not have wasted 20 minutes watching that video to the end because I am so starved for chicks. If my bantams don't start laying soon, I'm going to set white rock eggs despite not wanting white rocks at all. :duc

I did a candle of the last six eggs in the incubator, and I'm pretty sure they're all dead. I'm calling the fee hatch done.

62 set (2 HG)
55 fertile
49 hatched

Both home grown eggs hatched, I'm just not sure which of the chicks they are.
