➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Did I see they offer jumbo Egyptian now? Is your mixed pen from various hatches or just a literal mixed batch of eggs you ordered?
My mixed pen is from various hatches and a couple of different sources. There's a silver boy, a silver hen, 3 falb fee hens, a lavender manchurian hen, a pearl hen, and a pretty light orangey red boy in there.

Hmm. That would require so many things. Facebook account. Being ready to set up an incubator and brooder. Trying to just get a few eggs and not 408.

Probably I need to start getting organized. Do they ever sell small lots? Maybe 15-20 eggs?
I can bid for you. :D

I've never seen anything smaller than 30.

I don't need more eggs right now but in the future it would be awesome if MyShire had a Jumbo variety pack with only Jumbos. :D
Interesting concept. You want feather sexable also? A few people are thinking that is important. Or at least, convenient. :D

I still don't know if the Set 3 white ones are girls. They don't have light since I am focusing on Set1 hatching first. Working out well, I think.

So should I take the easy way and just hatch eggs from my flock or order some from Myshire? I think I just want to stick with jumbos so the eggs are larger but could be persuaded to try something else that is feather sexable. I also want to stick to small batches though.
To get larger eggs, you have to select for the large egg layers. The eggs I got last year were a couple of grams lighter that the ones I am getting from the same hens this year. Looks like quail are similar to chickens and the older girls lay bigger eggs.

These are Myshire jumbos and the eggs are 13 to 16 grams. Majority being 14+ grams. The smallest one laid this year was 11 grams from a freshly started layer. Getting some nice eggs now. Oh, got 4 eggs from 4 hens yesterday. Hope they do the same today.

It'd be fine but not really a requirement for me so far.

Just keep in mind that males in close confines can fight. Several of us had injuries - males and females. Aggression and over mating result in males being eliminated from the general population. I separated a male for aggression and he crowed constantly at 6 weeks old. Interesting case study.

The biggest issue was when I ran out of coops. Time for math to start and in this case, subtraction at 8 weeks.

I haven't been myself this week.
I am trying to sit still for a minute to update the sheet and I'm about to throw a conniption fit.

I've got @Sara L and @Phunktacular added.
I can't remember when or what @muddy75 set.
I'm working on Nutty's now.

Who else am I missing?
