Mine scratch the feed everywhere I feed them and 5 minutes later there's no food left. But they're so cute so I let them get away with it.

That's why as soon as they're a week or so old and can jump a bit I but their food in a bowl that's about as tall as they are and only fill the bottom of it. That way most of it stays in the bowl. They still poop in it, but it still lasts longer.

Edit: I'm thinking about ordering a few more of those waterers to use for food. I have used them for food too, but since I only have two of them I usually end up using them both for water.

I'm going to order a few as well so I have them for food and water. Mine are ridiculous

I was wondering if food dispenses out of that style feeder okay or not. It has worked for you though?

Status on day 18.5 of cotunix incubation in Germany ...

110 eggs insert
94 made it into Lock Down
70 hatched till now
That is good, till now. Can only get better
I do give late ones always a chance ... till day 21

So far
1 spread leg
2 kink claws
... are the problem cases.

The spread leg is already taped, for the kink claws we'll see.

Well, maybe marginally smaller. There was still a remarkable amount of mess produced by my last batch.

It’s amazing what a mess such tiny little things can make!!

Mine too!!! LOL though the new feeder I put it in seems to have helped. It’s got a lid before they’d either eat it all or kick it away in 2 seconds.

Also they kick shavings into the water the second I change it!!

I need to raise it up.

I had them on paper towels for a couple weeks to prevent that but they poop so dang much and make such a mess, I switched them the other day haha got sick of cleaning it every 5 seconds and wasting all our paper towels.

It seems quail also poop a lot and make just as much of a mess!?

Total set, clears, fertile and hatched?

Last night I was calling the hatch and had a zipper and a pip. I think I put all the eggs in at once. Might have had a cold spot. Regardless, 2 more chicks to the brooder!

30 eggs set (not counting Set3 infertile 4 eggs)
22 hatched
2 hatched and died with black things hanging out their bellies, not formed or something
6 eggs left in incubator as I ran out the door today.

What happened to the 6?

The huge egg that I set is a quitter. Not a surprise.

Tomorrow is lockdown for my button hatch, the 2nd is lockdown for my coturnix hatch.

Mine is still good. It was moving last night.
I'll get a video tonight.
