@Kiki why yes he is lol, luckily he's only 1/4th the size of a chicken I could hear newly hatched chickens from across our house and we have a reasonably large hous, of course they're always start up at 1am too!don't think I'll hear him across the house, but he's using those tiny lungs!

Just wait a few hours... They can get loud.

Out of curiosity is he gonna be lonely in the brooder for the day or two(maybe 3) it takes the other eggs to hatch? I can't do much about it other than hang out by the brooder but will it cause a huge stress?

I like to put about a half of a cup into a ziplock bag and beat the crap out of it with the mallet.

I'd get a sock and fill it with rice...didn't microwave it for 10 seconds at a time just until it gets warm. NOT too hot... And put it in the brooder with him. It seems to keep them company, for me.


Be sure to tie the sock off so no rice gets out.

I put my feed through a blender for little quail. After about 2 weeks I just give it to them straight up.

So far I’ve removed 1 egg of the 40 because it was cracked. Not sure how it cracked but it did.
