➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

The consensus on butchering seems to be:

6 wks - most efficient
8wks - a little more meat, not much
10-12 wks - more fat only basically

So totally depends on your needs for the carcass! Everyone has a different preference. My theoretical butcher point is 8 weeks but I have a few roos I am playing dread pirate roberts with.

Oh no...they escaped???

WHAT!?!?
All nine accounted for. The other 5 were in the huddle/cuddle box where I couldn't see them. I was leaving, so I didn't pull the box out to count. I stuffed it full of shavings so they could stay warm. And they did!

Using the chick waterer and feeder. The new setup is doing good.

It was a rabbit or rat cage lined with 1/4" hardware cloth. Actually, the last it contained was a squirrel.

What are you on day eight of? I’m expecting a mix of “chocolate, silver, white, pied, pharoh and tuxedo type babies.”
Oh shiznit, nice! Lots of crossover, mine should be pearl, lavender, pastel, silver/blue, roux dilute, Italian, silver italian, autumn amber, falb fee, red range, charcoal, charcoal rosettas, golden layer, partial tuxedo/white primaries...I think that's it. This is my first test of ten new breeding pairs and I already had to pull quite a few obviously infertile eggs, so def not going to get *all* of those.
