➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

There was no movement visible when I candled the egg, I usually go off that too. It was just a dark band around the middle off the egg, clear at both sides of it.

The chick wasn’t underdeveloped, it was developed enough to be a day 17 chick which is what’s confused me as to why it was squashed into such a small part of the egg 😕

These eggs were from posted eggs so some of the eggs will have been from the same bird but not all of them. Their air cells weren’t detached either.

All the eggs have been in the same incubator, temperature is running correct. It’s my first time using an upright incubator though, I usually use flat ones.
Oh wow that is really weird!! Maybe they weren’t being turned properly? Sounds like the chick maybe got stuck on one side? I know I had that problem with my turner when I hatched my first batch. I thought it was turning and theoretically it was (nothing was broken) but it wasn’t turning them enough.

That’s why I won’t use those side turners. I like my upright turner. Your turner convinced me to never get one like that 😂

:lau yeah I think if I ever get another incubator it would be upright. Although this last hatch I basically just left alone and I still had a lot hatch so idk. I did hand turn a few times early on though and move them around the bator so that probably helped haha but I don’t think that thing was even turning them because the quail eggs are soooo small that it just doesn’t push them when the rails move haha sometimes doesn’t even touch them 😂🤣 plus I kept having spikes again but then again it was summer this time and last time was fall so the room was colder last time

Okay. So do you think that the chick electrolytes and vitamins might help or would it honestly be better to just cull it now before it gets any older? I don't want it to suffer and I can't have any with this problem as adults since I won't be able to sell it if I move them along
Off it

Unfortunately this is the only animal forum I can go on that doesn't result in me being yelled at (fish forums are just cruel sometimes) but even then I have had some people admonish me for not being able to just cull a bird I've grown attached to. I don't want to cull anyone (unless they're mean and I've had it with them) but I also know living with your head at such a bad angle and not able.to eat and drink on your own is no way to live life
What kind of fish do you have?
@CarpCharacin has a nice fish forum.

What do you plan on keeping the chicks in?
What do you plan on using to heat them with?
Do you have a thermometer?
What exactly have you bought to feed them?
Do you have a picture of your setup?
