➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Poulin is almost definitely gonna cost you less, if that helps. I ordered ratite feed from Mazuri once, just one time before I found I could order it through my local store. It cost me $40 for the 40 pound bag with the shipping, ouch.
Yeah that’s a good point!! I just checked and it’s like $11 shipping so $33 or so for 25 lbs :th

But I guess it’s better than $100 for 50 :lau

Chewy I think is free shipping but that might be over $50. Even their flat rate though I think is only like $5 so may be cheaper when it’s in stock.

The Mazuri does seem like a better quality feed though with the animal protein and 2% higher protein (30% instead of 28%) so I do like that but I’m not sure it’s worth double the price.

I think I may see if the feed store can get the Poulin in.

These are the two feeds I would be looking at if anyone could help?

Haven’t ordered it, was just checking the price and  :th

Yeah it’s so weird to me that stores don’t seem to carry gamebird feed!! Especially when they usually sell turkeys!

I thought that I could have it delivered to the store since TSC does have the Purina one on the website but for whatever reason, that is not an option for that one.
It is up to the local manager. Some of them do not understand the concept of a guaranteed sale.

It’s really a shame! They could make a lot I’m sure with all the turkeys they sell and more and more people getting into quail! They did at least start selling duck food though last year or the year before so maybe there’s hope yet :fl

Alright guys. It's been well over 24 hours since two of my eggs pipped. I am thinking they are shrink wrapped because they have made absolutely no progress since the pips. Should I step in? I am not seeing veining in one of the eggs so far but the membrane seems to be dried out. One hasn't even tried zipping and the other tries very rarely but doesn't get anywhere. They have not tried rotating to zip or anything. My humidity is in the 60s sometimes low 70s and I had to go in a couple times to make safety holes for them and the malpositioned chick. Do i need to step in? One of them is 'panting', or breathing with its mouth open.

If it's been more than 24 hours and the membrane is dried out, I would assist. Be aware that assisted chicks may still have problems and not make it or need to be culled. I like to give them a chance, though.

I may also add that their down is beginning to dry.

Thank you. I'm aware about decreasing its chances but they are just not making progress. Their down is drying and they are just sitting there. I will peel back some of the membrane to see if it's only the air cell area that's dry.

I took them into the bathroom with a hot shower going and started gently chipping away and one of them had all their veins and yolk absorbed and as soon as I opened it a little he popped out on his own before I could get the chance to put him back in the bator! He is very vigorous, no signs of lethargy so far. I pray this little guy grows healthy and strong. He does have a little scabbed spot on his beak that looks irritated but other than that I see no deformities. As for the other guy I still saw a very small amount of veins so I wet the membrane and cleared it from his face and dry area on his wing and put him back.
