homegrown from the Lucky line. The Lucky line was the first set of quail eggs that Kiki gifted me 18 short months ago. 4th generation I believe.

HOAs typically have a president, etc. If you don't like your HOA rules, run for prez and change the rules. Here, idiots get voted out.

Also, depending on the state, many HOA rules are not legally enforceable.

They just fine you. We have an HOA, I spoke to my neighbors before getting poultry. The fine is $100 and the HOA really only bothers with it if someone complains. If someone does I’ll pay the $100 and keep my birds.

And that’s if the board can even meet. Which they can’t right now. But we do have a petition to change the poultry rule going because of the whole food-insecurity-is-probably-becoming-more-an-issue thing.

That said I can’t wait to get away from an HOA. Turns out I’m not really suited for one either!

Considered it. I'm allergic to excessive bitching, so it'd probably kill me.

That and I only know some of the 450-ish families here. The job requires more time and effort than I'm willing to give it. I don't think I can say this nicely. A lot of these people don't understand why they have to pay or work to maintain the neighborhood. For example the beer cans I clean up in my yard weekly. Not my cans. Not my trash. But my yard.

I tried to get involved and was disgusted. I agree with you. General malaise around here.

Also, for anyone that processes their extra birds or rooster, what age or weight do you generally do it at?

I believe most say around eight weeks.
