➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

He said that of all the people that he knows that I scare him the most.

Or something along that line.
I peed in my pants.

He doesn't know me that well.

To enter the contest tomorrow go to his Google page and leave a review.

Whoa, I had no idea I was so close to MyShire. I know where my next quail are coming from.

The guy I got my other birds from feeds them chicken layer feed. Which, I realized, half of my eggs came from birds I got from him as adults (the other half we raised from day olds, also from him), so they were only on quail layer for a few weeks before I collected eggs to hatch. That, combined with the temp drop explains a lot of what went wrong.

One of my assisted hatchers is up on its legs now, toes straightened, just needs to build strength. The other two are still splayed with curled toes, but they made it through the night, and flop all over the brooder. I think I'm going to just hold them for a few minutes throughout the day. I could put them in a cup, but I'm concerned about them getting cold that way. I like holding them as I can feel their toes open up to grip my fingers as they try to push up.

I feed my adult quail chicken layer crumbles.
I've never seen a quail layer feed.

I'm writing my review to enter into the contest. Do you think it's fair to include that I hatched colors other than what I purchased?

I know that can happen in genetics and I understand weird unexpected recessives that you didn't know you had showing up (and I hatched one of those, looked like it was Italian or something), BUT half of the ones I hatched are actually visually heterozygous for Fee. One's also a Pharoah, so with that I know for sure they have at least some heterozygous Fees in their breeding pens, and that's something that you can visually see, since it's incompletely dominant. Probably more than just some since half my hatch is heterozygous. So it's not really an 'accident' that it happened.

But I don't want to be nitpicky or anything, and overall I am happy with them.
