➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I usually don't have a problem with them.....they are usually only 3.5 to 4 feet. They keep the mice population down but these big dudes were inside the pens and eating my quail...."homey don't play that"! they kill rattlesnakes too but lately I've been finding rattlers in my pens too! they don't bother my quail, they are only after the mice. They don't bother my grown pheasants either. Although, a Copperhead did strike one of my Eillot males a couple of years ago, he lost his leg at the knee joint. :(
They got greedy and went beyond mice! Naughty naughty! I prefer my snakes stay in the wild 😁 I’m curious, what is an Eillot? I’ve not heard of it!

Okay count yet another reason Hawaii is good. Giant centipedes have nothing on ANY type of snake.

This was my first year encountering a snake in my brooder......have some concerns that they could breech the aviary but luckily I’ve not had that encounter yet!!!! (Cuz I know I’d scream and probably pee my pants!!!!) 🤣
What made the one in my brooder so bad was that it got tangled in the side netting and it went after the chicks through the top bars (no netting) it would eat one but couldn’t get out so it regurgitated and then went after another etc until I discovered him. I lost 7 chicks and he didn’t even get a meal!

OMG that’s awful! What a waste of 7 baby quail lives! Stupid snake! 😤

Heres the candling, 14 fertile, 2 infertile, and 3 that are too young. I left the infertile ones just in case. They all look good, but one is dislocated...its the one with a side ways air sack.
