Shaa poor little Casper.
Do you think he is going to make it?

I thinks so! He just kind of has to wander around slowly and cautiously to food and water so everything takes longer and he gets less of it than the others. He's still happy and active and only gets lost and screams for help occasionally. He finds everything on his own given long enough but if I plop him directly in the food trough occasionally he's very grateful.

Poor thing looks pitiful next to the others with his slow growth feathers.
He's cute.

I knooooooow. Even the week-younger birds are outgrowing him now. :hmm

I don't think he'll necessarily live *long*, albinos tend to have organ issues too. But he's having a happy relatively normal little life so far. That might change when his siblings start to have hormonal issues; whether it's actually a boy or girl is going to affect my ability to probably house it happily long-term. He definitely doesn't want to be alone, but I can see him getting picked on a lot later regardless of gender.

I did a very quick candle of my eggs last night (day 10). All 5 eggs from my white girl were clear, all 10 from the brown girl are dark with an air cell (I didn't spend much time looking at them, maybe if my feral kids ever go to bed :he)
There were 2 eggs from my brown girl in with my last hatch, but I am a doofus, and mixed them up. So I dont actually know if they hatched

I'm hatching chickens next, got some Leghorn & Sussex eggs (shipped). I've never hatched chickens before.. just turkeys and quails :fl:fl:fl

Here are the stats for my February hatches.

Batch 1 (Hatched Feb 3-5)
18 of 38 hatched, 17 survived
Of remaining 20, 8 eggs were infertile/non-developed, 9 died during development (conjoined birds counting as one), and 3 failed to hatch (pipped but no zip)

Batch 2 (Hatched Feb 26-27)
22 of 30 hatched, so far all seem to be doing well
Of remaining 8, 6 were infertile/non-developed, 1 died during development, and 1 failed to hatch (positioned wrong)

Switching to Janoel24 from styro cooler incubator is likely biggest factor in batch differences, environment was easier to maintain, but the eggs of the second batch also had slightly better shipping conditions (shorter handling time and cool instead of freezing weather).
