Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I am pretty sure that I need to order some jumbo eggs soon.
I think I have made my mind up.
Probably a few Pearls too.
Hmm. What is your timeline for "soon"? I'm puzzling this one also.

Did a survey on Batch #1 and came up with 4 girls this time. Hmm. 5 weeks. Next week is decision time.

Batch #1 could have had multiple fathers. Batch#2 had same father. I feel that I should keep 2 males from B#1 to minimize line breeding challenges. If I order Jumbos, keep the males until the jumbos are 6 weeks and integrate. Just thinking out loud. :caf

Now back to your regularly scheduled program. :)

All of your eggs have the same father. Darn it you're confusing me let me read your message again.

Soon means within a month or so.
I think.

I think I haven't decided on a time yet I'm just pretty sure I need bigger quailies.

I thought the first batch was before you narrowed the gene pool. I thought. Wasn't that the first fertility/incubator test? You may be right and Lucky fathered them all.

Golly gee wilikers. I need new quail. Hmm. Where can I get the new and improved jumbos....

:lau:lau:lau

Kiki narrowed the gene pool before she got any fertile eggs.

A guy is selling quail eggs. The best way I can explain my problem, is to say it is the same thing as Ameraucanas. You don’t know who you can trust.
He’s showing a picture of the same quail (Italian) for every listing. I want what I know as Italians. However, he has a second Italian listing that is confusing me. Autumn Amber. Since I cannot trust what Google says, I am asking you brainy people. What on earth is the difference??? Google said there wasn’t one, but this guy is charging more.

Email JMF! He doesn't have the meat makers listed but beg him :D

Another good breed of rabbit is the Blanc de Hotot. A rare breed that's hard to find and if you can find them it's well worth it. I raised then for a couple years. Very gentle and a all around good rabbit that looks good also.

Nice! I have not seen any around here but I will keep an eye out. I have definitely seen ones that look like those but none listed as them.

D'argent and mixes thereof are a little rarer but around too, and also tempting.

There's a little black doe nearby who I adore who just had a litter.

Basically, I want all the bunnies.

I *think* I am set on waiting for my pedigreed giant chinchilla pair (and also maybe a pepper baby, who is part chinchilla and who will breed back nicely I think). There are two local breeders and I think I will get one from each. I love the coats, I love the size, I love the better meat:bone ratio than other giants like the flemishes. And they look so snuggleable :love And honestly the less variance in looks the easier I think it will be come butcher time.

Oh, autumn amber = italians that also have a roux dilute gene. If their dark points look sandy-brown instead of black it's legit.
