The guy got back to me about his "goliath Coturnix eggs" here in aus..
He said 'email in 2 weeks, still mixing up the gene pool'.
Blerg. I should be thankful he just saved me $100. Totally could not be bothered. Have 3.5 different gene pools here anyway, maybe I'll just hang onto the biggest ones

ERGH, I hate that. I got jerked around by a local breeder with fertile celadon eggs the other day refusing to sell them until summer when he had confirmed homozygous. Like...good for you ....hope that works out...you lost a customer because of it and I doubt you're rolling in them I think you should work with your birds for now but keep an eye out for someone else. People like that rarely are worth the energy.

updated baby pics!! 2.5 weeks old. so excited by some of the colors in this group! my pearl seems to have a lot more black and there’s some cool silver/charcoal.

Not really.. I have let my girl eat the quail heads and some of the turkeys. But not the boys. The boys are the problem ones. The little one in particular has just cost several thousand dollars in vet costs because I was feeding him wild caught wallaby meat, and it turns out his body no-likey

I will do an experiment when I have enough quails/chickens or other critters to fed. Currently they are on crocodile- be dammed if I'm farming crocs!!!!

We have done Nutriscan testing on all of them (its done in USA), so its not just my overactive imagination and health problems talking

Second pic down, middle left. Looks like a beautiful charcoal They're my new favorites. I am building an army of small clones. From my nine chicks with charcoal parents I got one dusky sandy-looking one, four solid charcoal clones of dad, three more laced tricolor looking charcoals, a strange dilute pharoah, and a little blue. Very interesting.

I know mine are from a different source than yours (well, I mean, in the last generation or two - they all almost certainly descended from the same 2014 import) so we have to figure out a way to trade at some point.

Meat makers are just newer. Maybe slightly different weight/egg stats.

Very interesting. wondering if you had tried it? while he said that could be done with many color variations, their best combo is pharaoh hens with 3rd(ish) generation egyptian roo. will yield egyptian female and pharaoh males which can be sexed 100% @ day 1.

Yeah, out of everything my genetics-crazy brain likes sex-linked genes literally make it hurt.

My roux male is also getting cut from the program. I will probably get some more actually from Myshire at some point. Mine is tiny and I don't like his beak.

So: yes, a bit! But not actively at the moment. I have dreams of a jumbo autosexing celadon line someday though. Need more space first.
