@Texas Kiki Casper says hi! He just got in all his adult feathers except for his head!

I am very impressed at the speed at which he has found food and water through 3 cage transitions, although he is still growing slower than the others.

Poor thing.
I still think he is too cute.

I think so too! He's my baby. I have 1 other hen that is strictly a pet (weak chick and lays soft shell eggs even with calcium but she is from my first hatch and I love her). I am going to try to pair them up regardless of gender. I hope they like each other She will be glad to be free of the attentions of one of my current backup males as soon as I have a new mate or two for him.

They are now in two cardboard boxes. There is framed hardware cloth on top. Instead of the hw cloth, is there an alternative?

It's just their age.
I wouldn't worry about padding it.

Although that is how they dispatch pigs in Australia.
