āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

These are 7 days in the incubator? How many hens do you have with Lucky?
If ratio is important, then I'll have to segregate the layers from the breeders. 2 weeks to insure fertility? He is plucking the hens bald. He just went from 4 hens to 7. Hmm.

If he's still plucking all 4-7 hens bald you might be fine!

If it's only certain hens, expect those to be the only ones laying fertile eggs :/

2 of the 4 original were bald. 3 of the 4 original remain. Then 3 new ones. We shall see.

Didn't segregate eggs by coop. Just picked the largest ones. Will see about fertility. Hoping for better than Kiki's luck. If needed, we will rearrange. Learning all the little intricacies of animal husbandry and what not.

Really thinking that the layers are gonna get separated. How to determine who lays the biggest eggs? Put one in a single compartment until she lays and then mark? They really do look alike. Leg bands then or trim wings. This is getting complicated again.

Lucky plus 6 girlfriends.
By the looks of them only two look like they get and action.

Let me clarify what I set.
Of the 24 I said a hand full were pulled from my refrigerator.
Another handful were from my brand new babies who just started laying.
And the third handful was from my adults.

I knew I was not going to get but a couple of quail out of this batch to begin with.
