Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
Here’s wonky feet. We tried putting shoes on, but they didn’t stay.

If you can, keep trying. I had one like that and I had to cull after 8 weeks because it was not able to get around easily because I couldn't get his darn feet to straighten.

roasted stuffed quail w/plum sauce, grilled bok choy, and kwek kwek! (deep fried quail eggs). also made quail egg shots as appetizer to work on my recipe! now to sit and rub my belly! View attachment 1801583:gig
The toothpicked things...I want to try this! Any batter will work?

So we might get a little over half of the total to hatch?

If I didn't have these silly issues I could have potentially had 32 quail. Ten clear.

the batter is 1c all purpose flour mix with orange (food color) water (approx 1/2 c). we’ve been boiling eggs in the instapot (3 min) we cut a piece of my grippy liner to place on the rack makes it easy to grab up eggs to move to ice water.

The 30 I have left... About half of them look like this.
:(
I'm not calling it yet but I'm pretty sure I murdered them.
Same egg just rotated.

Looks to be swimming around? :jumpy
I couldn't see swimming but I wasn't looking for that. I was looking at the veins. They grew over night so I'm thinking that this one did not die like I was sure it had yesterday.

:yesss:
