āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

And I've been lurking on the Myshire page, because my little bitty flock is hardly going to feed us. I'm thinking I need more quail, less chickens.
Nope. You are doing it wrong. More, more, more. Chicken math, doncha know!

I've got chicken in the freezer and we keep eating the quail. Having said that, got 23 straight run chickens in the 8' coop growing for layer replacement and meat. Quail eggs in the incubator. And planning for another quail meat (small) hatch before the jumbos start laying. Need to count coops again...

I'm understanding Aart's chicken juggler title. :D

My husband doesn't like chicken meat very much. I'm hoping he likes the quail. I certainly do!

Plus, they are a breeze to process compared to chickens.

And that's why I've been psyching myself up to the idea of killing little birdies. I hope I'm going to hatch more quail than I intend to keep, so some are going to have to go. They may as well go into my stomach.

It sucks. There's no way around it. They're beautiful and I feel bad every time.

BUT THEYRE SO TASTY OMG

I am ruined for grocery store meat.

That's how I felt after I started making my own jerky. I can't eat the store bought jerky any more.
Quail jerky :drool

Also SUPER off topic but...do you ever go out to bodega bay???? There used to be this old stoner guy who sold smoked salmon out there off of a turn out by the russian river then he moved to the sebastopol side and I haven't been able to find him for like 3 years. He ruined any and all other smoked salmon for me, every summer as a kid my dad would buy pounds of it from him every time we went out there. And now I'm craving it again :barnie
