i am due to butcher! probably taking out 7 of easter sex-link males for sure and the remainder of my original pharaohs + a couple more undetermined males. we need enough for another dinner and i have 1-2 interests in purchase. i’ve been procrastinating setting up my new bator and next 60 eggs due to arrive tomorrow!! We purchased a new “storage shed” today for kayaks, hunting/fishing stuff and possibly other items to clear room in current shed. Hubby has plans for “incubation/brooding room” for me to get everything out of the house. I’m taking my 9 remaining chickens to my sister this weekend so we can clean out chicken area and build brooder/grow-out + rabbit area in there. No I just like to pick.
My adult quail go through about 3 cups of feed. I'll measure tomorrow.
7 adults.
I have 157 full grown pheasants, 53 1 month olds, 63 quail and 23 Prairie chickens. I scaled back this year. Last year I had over 300 pheasants alone. I feed approximately 25lbs per day, now. Last year was going through more than 100lbs every 2 days. Right now the pheasants are eating less than normally, their going through molt right now and they always seem to eat less when they molt. Every other day they get sunflower hearts. And all the green vegetation they can eat.i have 40-50 quail, 3 silkies (2 broody), 3 chicken chicks (8 wks old) 7 pheasant 8 partridge (5-6 wks old) and 1 button (pretty sure he’s the big eater!)![]()
i was talking to hubby about you again today!!! i told him again that any trips to Texas must include a stop by your house!!! and if there’s any way to talk you into shipping me some eggs, I’m going for it!! I’m NEVER doing pheasants again unless I incubate from reputable breeder!!! (and of course hubby now wants ornamentals as much or more than I do)!!I have 157 full grown pheasants, 53 1 month olds, 63 quail and 23 Prairie chickens. I scaled back this year.
