In the wonderful country of Texas, the feed stores stop having chicks from around Dec 12 to Jan 12, and then it's all day every day of chicks. You have feed store chicks already???
Yeah, but as soon as they sell all of the chicks they stop selling 24% chick starter, too!...that's why I had to go to a mill and have mine custom made.In the wonderful country of Texas, the feed stores stop having chicks from around Dec 12 to Jan 12, and then it's all day every day of chicks.
Our local TSC(s) always have the 24% starter, and some even carry the 30% game bird conditioner.Yeah, but as soon as they sell pit of the chicks they don't sell 24% chick startsr either...that's why I had to go to a mill and have money custom made.![]()

The TSC here doesn't carry it except during chick days. That's why I have mine milled and no it's not cheaper but I don't have to go 100 miles to get it, either, so it offsets the cost. Our local TSC(s) always have the 24% starter, and some even carry the 30% game bird conditioner. We used that right before the cold started as the chickens were molting and would not get their feathers back, but that 30% was awesome and brought them back so fast.

....Is getting your feed milled cheaper though?![]()
In some of the feedstore cases yes, but the ones I was referring to get their chicks from Hoover's.I’m gonna guess that is because Ideal is right there. And that’s great they are always available.
Ah, makes sense! Yeah I'm pretty certain my family is the only ones keeping that starter in stock up here. The TSC here doesn't carry it except during chick days. That's why I have mine milled and no it's not cheaper but I don't have to go 100 miles to get it, either, so it offsets the cost.
