In the wonderful country of Texas, the feed stores stop having chicks from around Dec 12 to Jan 12, and then it's all day every day of chicks.
Yeah, but as soon as they sell all of the chicks they stop selling 24% chick starter, too!...that's why I had to go to a mill and have mine custom made. ;)

Our local TSC(s) always have the 24% starter, and some even carry the 30% game bird conditioner. :D We used that right before the cold started as the chickens were molting and would not get their feathers back, but that 30% was awesome and brought them back so fast. :yesss:

....Is getting your feed milled cheaper though?

The TSC here doesn't carry it except during chick days. That's why I have mine milled and no it's not cheaper but I don't have to go 100 miles to get it, either, so it offsets the cost.

Ah, makes sense! Yeah I'm pretty certain my family is the only ones keeping that starter in stock up here.
