➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

When I was looking them up, I saw that they actually have an “egg eating set” for all eggs that includes a fake egg that lets you know how cooked your eggs are. Not sure if it’s accurate for quail to emu, but it’s a cute idea.

Yea, it's a cute idea but would you use it?

Sorry, I'm purging my house right now and I'm talking you like I talk to me

My cousin got me started with quail and since has gotten out of quail. She decides before Christmas she wants to get more quail so I gave her 125 eggs Christmas day. Something happened to her incubator and killed all the eggs. :barnie

Sounds like a good excuse for me to hatch her some babies. :)

120 went into the bator yesterday. :ya :ya

I love excuses to hatch.

I'm sorry about your cousins hatch, but it is a great excuse for you!

11 days old and doing great! ALL 47 OF 'EM. Starting to fly a bit. I'm worried they'll escape the brooder before the heat lamp is high enough for my to put a piece of HC across the opening in the top. The are already flying up to the top, just 3 more inches and they'll be out. :barnie
Thanks for the warning. My tote isn't that large. I'm keeping the lid mostly on it to keep the warmth in. So, 1 week old and the precious little bits fly. Very interesting...

:weeI put 39 on yesterday night. Today shall be Day 0. Good thing I don't have quail rails...

@BReeder! 100 quails are your magic number. Even for a medium family, that is a lot. I'm still playing with numbers. First issue is making sure everyone still likes quail meat. We will confirm in 3 months.

Got the quail scissors on a whim. If you practice, you won't get the black pieces in the egg. I'm sure a knife would do similar. Pick your preference.

Had a taste test last batch of eggs. No one said the quail eggs tasted different. This was fried with salt and pepper in olive oil.

If you don't like 'dark meat', you won't like Cot's. For eating purposes.

I dearly love wild duck. Smoked wild duck is right below smoked Specklebellied geese. Gumbeaux is delectable with either.

What is your recommended dish?
Speckledbellied geese are delicious, if cooked properly.
I'm partial to pheasant, fried, baked, dumplings, smothered in mushroom gravy, or with rice and marinara sauce.
As far as quail are concerned, Bobwhites or Blues fried, stuffed with jalapeno and wrapped in bacon cooked on a grill. Quail with an orange marmalade glaze. YUM!
