➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I will soon have quail in here. It hasn’t really hit me yet.
You know, I’ve never seen quail before. This is going to be fun!
Play with/bother them daily when they are little so they don't grow up scared of you.
My triplets still hate me.

I have three groups of quail.
My first group is now only 7.
My second group... the triplets.
My third group the 19 babies.
I am bothering the babies way more often than I did the triplets and they seem to not be bothered by me at all.

I think I have decided that I want an automatic waterer set up for the three rabbit quail cages. I want to save floor space and I still need to figure out feeders for each.

What type waterer are you thinking about? Don't forget you have to drain them when it freezes. I didn't think about that and had trouble draining mine yesterday.

No.
Just no.
:lau
Have you candled the new eggs yet?
:lau:lau:lau No. Just no.
What day are you on now?
Day 3 of Batch 2 according to the prophecy.
My last few days have run together and I'm lost.
You should be right at home. :hugs

Freezing water. I don't think we have that problem here.

I'm thinking about cups mounted from the outside. Need to buy them from the store on the next trip and try it out. This weekend will be back in the 60's so mine are going outside also. Heat lamp or no? The wing feathers have started. WOW.

I can’t find my second heat lamp. If I need a new one, are there other heat lamp options than the big one we find at the feed store?
I picked up a bulb at the pet store. its a 1o0 watt red heat lamp. The Pet Supply Plus near me stocks 40W, 75W, 100W, and 125W heat lamp bulbs in both white and red. Menards carries bulbs too as well as the ceramic socket plugin hanging fixtures - the one near me didnt have red heat lamp bulbs though, just white 125W and 250W bulbs.
I prefer the red lights because they do not keep the birds up all night.

I’m determined to find the missing lamp, but out of ideas on where I hid it. The chicks will be able to go without heat, but if this weather continues, I won’t be able to put them out as intended. 8, 3-week olds in the house is not my idea of fun. :sick
So, it’s either find mine, or order another.
