➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Update on my quail. I followed in @Texas Kiki 's footsteps and gave them dirt. They are enjoying it. They go crazy for fresh water every time we clean and refill the waterer, which is multiple times per day until I build a system for the poultry cups I have. Here's a pic from today. I hope to move them to the 8'x3' cage next week as we will have better weather (20-40F instead of -17F)

Dirt! I dig it.

I have a source of composted wood waste and use that for bedding and bathing. The chickens will spend all day digging through it eating the itty bitties. Spreading it out for the garden and all. Good stuff Maynard! The wood shavings will pack down in the brooder and the compost heap. The wood chips tend to do well. Bigger chunks though depending on what pile I get from. The ground material is better.

The improvised waterer did not work for us. I'm using the 1 pint chick waterer with marbles in the base. Working much better. Thirsty buggers. Growing fast.
