I was about to say...that can be fun...but I have done it three times and just now gotten ONE of the one I wanted the whole time.

this hatch has been the most stressful yet!! not during incubation, but after!! it’s almost like having a colicky baby! so i’m deducing that if a baby quail gets too cold in the first days, it messes with their equilibrium and recovery is almost impossible......any thoughts on my hypothesis??

It certainly doesn't help. I have had chicks had their heat lamp turned off accidentally overnight etc and been fine, though. I mean, deathly when discovered, but okay after some warming. I'm sure there's a line somewhere, though!

I mean technically if we're going by that she should order recessive/english whites/A&M - as long as they are advertised pure they should hatch out 100% yellow. ( I am just going to keep annoying everyone with genetics facts/corrections - tell me to fudge off at some point ).

BUT I think snowies/pearls are way prettier so I'm in 100% agreement that that's what @Texas Kiki should order


Casper is...I don't know. I'm not hopeful. But I found him standing in the special yolk food mush? That's...something?

I thought I had escaped special needs chicks this time around but I'm now 100% certain little albino is completely or almost completely blind. He's now in a plastic shoebox on his own inside the bigger brooder. He obviously had figured out where the waterer was because I saw him drinking but food is a concept we're still working on. He's got a little mash with some egg yolk in it that's hopefully tempting now. Hopefully the smaller space means he has an easier time finding everything. Have to mark where everything goes every time so he can find it again. I wish I could put another chick in there with him but they are officially 2-day-old teenagers and are SO over that tiny box.

I feel bad because I probably blinded him worse at birth looking at him before I knew he was different

Try a teddy, keeps my lonely chicks happy. But they need something or someone to snuggle to.

I have Pearl in my cart now.
The people never answer the phone and they still have responded to my email so I have issues with this particular dealer and don't know if I want to order from them anymore.

I'm getting worried too about ordering eggs beci what if they hatch messed up. I can not do nursing stuff...will not do it.
