with 125 heat bulb it was staying in the 99 ish range which of course I thought was too hot too, but they were still huddling up and not trying to move away from it. with regular bulb (43w was all i had). it’s staying about 85-90 and they are still huddling a bit more than I would like but doing better. it’s between 65-71 in our living room where they are and still near freezing outside. little dummies keep sleeping in the food dish!!

I'm going to sign these up for a soccer team. They kick food all the way across the brooder into the water dish. Amazing accuracy. Astounding distance. Astonishing stamina.

gone for the day and it died. Looked good this morning. I'm confused. Failure to thrive? Everything looked normal.

What is the cause of my wee little one weekers' suddenly being unable to walk? Or stand without falling to the side? He kinda walks backwards and falls over.
It only 1 of them. And 2 of the dark pharaohs crouching and can't stand up.

Is this bad genetics? Inbreeding? Nutritional deficiencies in parents?

We want to hatch on April 20th, (the day BEFORE Easter Sunday)
button quail: 16 days to hatch; set April 4th
coturnix quail: 18 days to hatch; set April 2nd

i used nutridrench water first 2 days this time, and now I have vitamins in the water. added quail waterer yesterday, removed the flat water dish and some of the stones from the larger waterer. going to have to switch to different feeder soon as they are getting way too messy and wasteful!!
