He is doing great! Smaller than the others but that's about the only difference. That, and he doesn't shoot backwards up and out of the brooder when I stick my hand in. He got in tiny white pinfeathers today.

Pepper?! You season newborns?!Okay, does anyone else feel like they get one bleeder every hatch? I don't even count them as issue babies because usually I slap some pepper on, check them the next day, and they're fine, but GOSH is that an unwelcome adrenaline rush.

It tends to be the only coagulant I have on short notice I'm sure wont hurt birds (I mean, sterility issues aside; I always do follow up checks and treat if looking at all dubious). I have used it with great success on a wing arterial bleed before too (jesus those things can be mean).
