➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

How does everyone feel about keeping half-lame quail still eating, moving, and enjoying life until the 6 week mark? I have two with one weird foot each I can't correct and one with stubby wings I'm considering doing that with. It doesn't really feel worse than putting them down and they're exceptionally healthy aside from the minor defects. I've had my share of VERY deformed baby quail but none in the middle like this before.
If they are able to move, eat and drink I would say sure. Just never allow the blood to pass to another.

I think as long as they can get around and eat well then it is ok.

x2!

Good luck! Which bator are you using?

Thank you! First time hatching anything...Little Giant 11300 (deluxe with fan and turner). Have been running it for a week (with two additional calibrated thermometers and a calibrated hygrometer) and I THINK I finally found the right room/insulation/surroundings/water level...

Ooohhh tough one Coturnix :hugs

I actually kept one of my gimpy feet ones, he only had one weird walking on ankle foot, the other was normal.
He was getting around ok, eating, drinking -not jumping and flapping like the others though. But once they reached 2 weeks old, he was finding it harder to get around- seemed to be limping. Since I cant know for sure whether it was causing pain, I decided to cull him (with my 2 unable to balance chicks).

It's hard to know, I guess you just have to constantly reassess as it grows.
