Another newbie question...... do both sexes spike up the feathers on the top of their head from time to time? It seems to happen when they are on alert but I could be wrong on that.

Yes, when 'alarmed' they will.

Yup! Went about twelve feet from one side of the room to the other. It’s the one in my profile, and obviously my favorite. I’m glad the dog wasn’t in the room!

Oh, I got a picture of the quail in question. It’s a girl. The breeder said they have one with that chest too.
