➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I just ordered 230 Tibetan coturnix quail eggs from Myshire Farms.:wee:oops:

I think I will try out both Bobs and Coturnix to see which ones I like better. Thank you to whoever referred me to them! It was one of you but my short term memory is non-existent. Their website is very informative.
Wow. just wow.

@007Sean do you still sell any birds or eggs?
I've sold all my birds that I hatched last year. My birds are just now starting to lay (pheasants) quail haven't started yet.
I usually only sell locally. I have shipped eggs to other members on here, though.

Quailers.. I think I am allergic to these beautiful quails. It's taken so long to get me a little family of unrelated birds darn it!!! But I'm getting more and more itchy rashes :th

I don't want to murder them all :hit
I can’t remember your setup. Are they indoors or outdoors and do you wear gloves? That would really be the pitts if you were allergic to them.

I see! I thought you had mentioned about selling commercially in the past tense. But you still seem to have a variety of beautiful birds!

Yeah, back in the mid 70's early 80's I raised Bob's commercially (over 5,000/yr.) Yep, I still raise alot of birds but not commercially.
The only birds I have left from last years hatch are 3 Red golden males. They have been spoken for but the person that's suppose to come get them hasn't called or shown up (about 6 months now). I won't ship them either, local pick up only.

ETA - I'm not NPIP and don't want to be...it really doesn't mean a thing, except there was no disease found at the time of testing. That doesn't mean anything if a week later they contract a disease. Some sellers would keep shipping their birds or eggs anyway, so it's kinda useless, IMO. All it does is allow them to ship birds, eggs or other 'parts' of their birds...doesn't really protect the buyer or a seller from having or receiving a diseased bird.
It also allows an inspector to come onto your property at anytime, to inspect your facilities, test your birds, or have your entire flock destroyed if a disease is found, like Merecks.

Most states stress biosecurity as part of their NPIP programs. Also most states as part of their import programs require that the source of the hatching eggs or chicks come from an NPIP source.

NPIP is not for everyone including me but I don't illegally ship hatching eggs or chicks anywhere.

I don't either, but have shipped some eggs to members here, they didn't care that I was NPIP or not....also the package wasn't 'marked' as live eggs....but I guess that was 'still' against the law. That's also why I only sell 'pick up' only.

ETA - I've ordered eggs from all over the states and some were NPIP and some were not.... I guess some states are more stringent on enforcing their regulations than other states?

I forgot to post my new buns: Cinnamon and Frost. They are Rex rabbits. Super soft.

So hard to get a decent picture with the ominous red glow of that heat lamp, but here are my 8 babes! They are all doing great and seem to be healthy, no foot/leg issues and all eating and drinking well. Assuming the last egg in the ‘bator doesn’t hatch (which I don’t think it will), my final numbers are as follows:

24 eggs set:
•11 infertiles
•3 quitters
10 eggs into lockdown:
•1 pip that died before hatching
•1 egg that never pipped
•8 hatched (2 assisted; 1 sticky and 1 malpositioned)

Thanks everyone for all of the encouragement and advice along the way! I really enjoyed my first hatching experience.
