Sharing another pic (slightly better than pics I posted yesterday) of my 8 babes...curious about the two blondies; will they feather out differently than the chipmunk-patterned/wild-type ones? It's hard to tell in this picture with the heat lamp washing them out in red, but the two blondies are a bright yellow compared to the subdued tan/dark brown of the other six.

Yep! Probably golden Italian, that and tibetan/red range are the easiest colors to get around us. Will look like this when grown, altho you must tell me if I am far off.

Turning the red light off for a few minutes to get pictures won't hurt them.

Oh my, those are beautiful! Looks like they're still feather sexable based on chest color, so that's good.

I figured, but the room they're brooding in isn't really bright as-is (overhead light is really dim) so heat lamp is providing most light for better or worse...

It’s 62 now, 38 tonight, over the next several days it will go as low as twenty overnight. Quail are 5 weeks, but I am thinking about the rapid dip. Any reason they cannot go out now?

It’s just the rapid dip of thirty degrees that seems too much for the first day.

If they have cover from the wind and places to huddle together to stay warm, I would think they should be ok. They should be plenty warm if they are fully feathered.
