➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

just finished initial layout for aviary....estimated @600+ square feet. I’m thinking 100 birds with quail # around 75, 6 ornamental pheasants (2 male/4 female) and 18 partridge. does that sound feasible @007Sean. planting clover base with taller grasses, clumping bamboo and keeping existing snowball bush in corner.

Sounds a little crowded to me. You don't want to run two male pheasants together with 4 hens. The males will fight and one or both could wind up dead. Also, I wouldn't run quail and partridges together, partridges can be pretty aggressive towards themselves and other species of birds.

It would be better to make 4 150 sq ft. pens.
But if your dead set on doing it that way, then be prepared to be able to seperate the aggressive birds and to lose birds.

would partridge do ok with pheasant and/or pheasant with quail? pheasant ratio of 1 male to 3 hens better? approximately 10 quail and ?#partridge per month would be meatbirds. since i’m still in initial planning I can rethink numbers and types of birds, but not wanting to separate the aviary as it will be a semi-permanent structure that could be removed if we were to sell the house. aggressive birds could be deported to chicken area until sent to freezer camp! i’m going to be reducing my chickens to my 4 silkies, max of 6 standard layers and possibly a couple of my silkie cross chicks.
