Do you feed it mice?Snakes were my first loved captives(at around 14 yrs old) i still have an albino ball python who ive had 8 yrs now
Do you feed it mice?
I was at the register with a ball python when my big bad biker boy made his fear of snakes be known.Small rats now but he ate mice for most of his life. Took forever to get him to switch to frozen after the live werent avalible anymore. All the neat old pet stores across baton rouge have closed down for the big box stores. I used to buy em live and prekill to feed so that id kno they were healthy and not going to send the snake into shock w a frozen core. Took awhile for Me to get comfortable w thawing properly but it sure is easier to have a stockade of them in the freezer. I couldnt raise them to kill n feed em when i was younger, couldnt seperate them from being pets, roosters had to teach me how to do that. Now i dont wanna commit any of my brood pens space to keeping mice for a single snake and hes already eating the frozen.
Could you feed him quailies instead?Small rats now but he ate mice for most of his life. Took forever to get him to switch to frozen after the live werent avalible anymore. I've had a bull snake about the size of the one posted that bit me twice while trying to get it out of a pen of Gambles I had...he had already swallowed 3 and was going for a fourth when it hit me instead. That got him out of the pen though...attached to my handBall pythons are very sweet things but notoriously difficult to feed. He hasnt ever even hissed at me in 8 years! They like to go off feed on fast for long periods of time tho, ive heard of over a yr. If you always fed them albino mice and the store switches breeders so u have black n white ones? They wont eat itif its a bigger change than that dont even bother til hes starving
those rat snakes can be aggresive to keep captive but the gophers or regionally here bulls i mentioned earlier are Super aggresive ive seen one guy keep a pair and everytime u went near em they wanted to strike the glass til he moved em to an opaque enclosure. Ive also had chameleons and bearded dragons and fed them occasional mice.
