➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

The yallars are noticeably larger than the wild colored ones. And the feathers are just shooting out of them.

Do you use that incubator often?
It’s believed that eggs should not go by the motor because it gives off too much heat.
Forced air. Don't think I've had issues. That said, this is only the second time I've had it slap full. Wait until day 7, candle, pull clears and get the ones off the floor. I'll move them away from the motor then.

Remember, I'm new at this and am eagerly learning from you experienced folks.

Myshire impressed me. Ordered 80 eggs. Received 90. 1 cracked in the middle of the foam so cracked going in for shipping? 4 looked like they were pecked or hit by a sharp something. 2 beak sized. 2 teeny holes. Several poopy. They looked like they were polished and the dried, cement poop stayed. We shall see if the poopy hatch.

85 split between me and friend.

@muddy75 Most Cornish Cross are supposed to be processed at 8 weeks. Unless you’ve fed them (not free choice) and ranged them more like normal chickens, they’ll start dropping dead. They really do have to be processed on time.

I got Color Yield from Cackle because they’re a bit more durable. They’re nice birds—I like them. Mine are in a large tractor and they’re about 8 weeks. They’re supposed to finish @ 9 wks, but it’s not as critical.

I just got these on Monday and supposedly 3 were just 6 weeks and the 4th was 7. they were raised in a coop/run area vs tractor. I believe the guy that raised them to this point has plans to butcher some this weekend as well. (i had originally planned to butcher upon arrival but we just didn’t have the energy on Monday.)
