Fudgecicles. Small brown quail is listless, gasping and laying on her side. . Feet are blueish. What do I need to check for? Last night, this one was standing with the head up and gasping. Other 3 appear fine and are running around.

Afraid this is the genetics that I was warned about from a closed gene pool. Expect early losses?

Either that or Aspergillosis?

Would that explain the different growth rates? The yellow that passed and this wild colored one are the runts. The other wild type is also small compared to the 2 yellows. Feed is fresh. Bedding is shredded wood fibers. Fungus is possible.

Genetics can certainly contribute to the overall size and health of the chicks, same can be said for the parent stock and their nutritional health.

I watched the bator a good hour before I fell asleep.
I was sure it was ok to fall asleep.

I was wrong. I just woke to it too damn hot.

I am pretty sure that if the cooling didn't damage them this temp spike did.

This was a nightmare.

107 and the longest it could have been was three hours...the time I slept.
