➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Dang it I want some rabbits.
Get ya some! :gigI started with the 2 this time.....last time I got the boys each 1 and didn’t sex them and let’s just say it didn’t go well! 1 ate the extra plastic bowl that someone put in while we were away and I had no idea about heated waterers back then so even though we tarped the cage, the horrible winter that year ended up claiming the other 2. Of course today feels more like fall again than spring/summer!! Only in the 60’s right now!! Hubby said pull out he turkey fryer and hunting gear cuz it must be going to snow soon!!!!!:lau

They are wonderful :love

I am just dreading murdering them.

Do they hold up outdoors?
They're tough plastic, but still plastic, so I wouldn't leave them out in the sun or in freezing weather. They're air tight, so they would also be water tight, but some water might fall in when you open/close the lids. I'd say they'd be fine in a sheltered outdoor area.

I'm kinda worried they will bite me.

That should not be your fear. They sometimes nibble but have never drawn blood on me, none of the six from sweet babies to cranky does.

They will accidentally SCRATCH THE CRAP OUT OF YOU THOUGH. Regular toenail trimming and leather handling gloves are a must. And they're kinda dirty so the scratches like to scar on me.

It's just a simple, free permit. I had thought I read that coturnix were fine and no permit was needed. She said as long as I send back my application it will be fine and she made a note that I called. Nice thing about a vast, empty state, you can get the right people on the phone pretty easy and they remember you.
It was the NPIP VS form 9-3 that gave me away.
Be sure and check all the fine print. Here I can get a free permit to have quail but if I want to even give away eggs or meat let alone sell any it becomes a $50 bird farm license.
