Ms Irene i use the 1 qt quail waterers from day 1. First three days i add gravel in the bottom tray. Far right.

Cosmosue uses bottle caps. She has to clean them like 5xs a day.

I use the quail waterer from day 1 as well and last couple batches I haven’t even added the pebbles.....knock on wood no one has tried swimming yet! The only time I’ve had water issues recently was due to shavings wicking water out and that was with 2-3 week olds

Yea that is Trouble when they start kicking. I keep it up on pieces of wood once they have shavings

Theyre standing on it in this shot its taller than a 2x4 maybe a peice of a post 4x4? Still gets shavings in it but not enough to wick it all out. Someone has a hanging idea for these things with a disposable produce net bag

Betcha i could fashion something out of zip ties. Have to try that-- adding more zipties to the grocery list.

I need extremely shallow for the first few days. I am too scared the dummies with swim...even with rocky water.


I clean a million times a day anyways so I don't mind having to refill a shallow dish for now.


I'll switch their water to a regular waterer soon.
